Assessments for Unit 6
In Unit 6, students will learn how to classify animals into vertebrate and invertebrate animals according to their physical characteristics, and how to classify animals into mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and arthropods according to their characteristics and behavior. For our first assessment of this unit, students will use a technology tool called Kahoot!. This game-based platform is an engaging way to reinforce and review the material they have learned in class, and I can track students' performance to make adjustments in teaching or reteaching the material.
Just as a reminder, please have students review their notes before taking the quiz at home. The pin for the game is: 0225594, and the link for taking the quiz is:
Kahoot!
Our second assessment will be a virtual poster that students will create using an online educational program called "Glogster". Students will develop their "glogs" in pairs on a single animal classification group. They will research and create their posters following a checklist named "Performance Task". This checklist will contain the requirements that will be evaluated in their final project. Here is the link:
Performance Task Checklist
Their final project will be evaluated using a rubric that will also be available to students. Using a checklist and a rubric gives students clear instructions and expectations they need to meet for their final assignment. It also provides an opportunity for self-assessment and a better understanding of grading. Please find below the link to their Animal Classification rubric:

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you!
